More about us

This is a committee that exists for the purpose of monitoring current political and legislative activities that affect the motorcycling community within the state of New Mexico. The members of the board will collect information about current activities, consider what steps (if any) should be taken regarding activities, as well as make recommendations regarding the possible introduction of laws or regulations that will benefit the motorcycling community. This board will be composed of 7 volunteers (including chairpersons). In addition to the seven board members, there will be committee members who will be commissioned to do outside work and report back to the board. Although not associated with any one organization, the committee may report on a quarterly basis to the National Coalition of Motorcyclists, ABATE of New Mexico, Inc. the Coalition of Clubs or any other organization deemed appropriate.

Officers will consist of the Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Public Relations Officer, Editor and Sergeant-At-Arms. Their office will be held for two (2) years by vote of all board members. There will be no term limits.

How board members are established:

*       All prospective board members shall submit a written petition to the board

*       The board will privately review and discuss the petition

*       The board will vote on the prospective member. The vote must be unanimous

*       After the probationary period, established board members will vote on the prospective member. The vote must be unanimous.

Attendance is of the utmost importance. Each board member must be able to be contacted by e-mail or their contact numbers. In addition, in lieu of extenuating circumstances, each board member/prospective board member must attend a minimum of every other meeting, for a sum total of 75% meeting attendance within a 12-month period. Failure to meet this obligation will result in mandatory dismissal from the NMMRO board.

For due cause, board members may be removed by a majority vote of all established board members.

Every established board member has an equal vote and say on committee business. The quorum will be at least two board members and the chairman or vice-chairman. If the chairman is unable to attend the meeting, then the vice-chairman will vote in case of a tie.

Donations will be held by the Treasurer and will be dispersed as needed. All receipts will be shown to the board for final approval.
